Call to Order: Peter Bartram

Secretary’s Report: Pat Pride read the minutes from the last meeting. Some corrections were noted: the co is Titler Tees in Butler PA not Liberty Sportswear here that is providing the Rose  Parade items. Also the funds from the bagging days at the Bass Pro Shop goes into student accounts. Motion to accept the minutes: Judy Uchtman; second by Michelle Gillis.

Director’s Report: Greg Snyder reports that hard work reaps rewards but that the kids are tired of the heat. There are 200 tickets left to the upcoming CSO concert as of today and it should be a sell out with a possible profit for each club of about $5000. This Sat is the Springfield Shawnee Comp. with the band playing at 7:45 PM—meeting at 4PM-home by 10. It was a fun Friday night at the game- the band watched the video –still work to do. The next week is Grove City Comp.-not certain of the time as of yet. A daytime performance at P&G earned $500 for the band: a similar performance at GE earned $1000. Split the Pot raised $1000. Thank you to Sandra Snyder for a great job on Tag Day. Last year we raised $18,000-this year over $26,000. The community has been very supportive. The dinner evening at TGIFriday’s earned $570. Smokey Bones will give us 100% of the profits at an event to be held there.

There are 101 days till we leave for the Rose Parade. We paid $138,000 to Gateway Travel last week. The next check is due Oct 1st. All of the kids are going except for 4 kids who don’t want to go. There is some scholarship money for those that might need help.

The Fall Concerts are in less than 4 weeks. Winds is as good as last year if not better. The Red and White Band are doing a great job and Concert Band is working very hard. The Marching Band will play at the Oct 4th Volleyball Game at West to benefit the Race for the Cure. Oct 6 the band will play at VOA Park for a Support he Troops Rally. There wil be a live feed for families to speak to their loved ones in Falugia (SP?). There are 3 more football games left this season. A junior parent is needed to coordinate the flowers for Senior Night ..see Pat Pride to volunteer and get info. There are 5 more competitions. Gary Gilroy, the show writer, will be coming this Friday from 3-5 to work with the band on his way to judge in IN. Greg stated that he is very proud of the kids.

Tony Marinello reported that the Freshman Night was fabulous. The Freshman are now busy doing chair auditions. We still need a Freshman VP. Julie Giroux, an LSU Grad  is writing a piece and the Freshman band will record it to be used to sell the piece at Midwest.

Treasurer’s Report: Rick Armstrong was absent so Teresa Armstrong read his report. The instrument bill has been paid. We used $40,000 that was given to us by Mr. Hamilton for concert instruments and the Lakota School Board loaned us $100,000. the good news is we havean indefinite period of time to pay it back with no interest. Tag Day was a huge success and brought in $26,000, this brings our uniform reserve to $57,700. Band Camp bills have been paid other than a few incidental reimbursements. The Wright State final bill was $51,226. The Gateway Sept.15 bill was paid $123,000—we squeeked by on this one because 97 people are behind in their payments for a total of $42,200. Fortunately there are 101 people ahead on payments-the behind and ahead net to a position of $21,150 behind. There is a lot of work getting this all into Charms. If someone would drop out now they would lose 40% of the land and all of the airfare (@$900). The House Raffle is at about $35,000 profit right now every ticket sale will help. We have asked AK Steel for help with our fundraising, ABF Trucking Co may help us with shipping the instruments. Motion to accept Judy Uchtman;  second Malinda Anderson.

Fund Raising Chair: Rick Shively reported that there are several general fundraising projests in the works. The 50/50 Raffle will continue until Oct 15th. There are several restaurants interested in helping us: Grand Finale, TGIF, Smokey Bones and others. Good search and Good sales are both online. A Swing Dance is planned as a parent/student event with a potential for $4000 to be made. A committee is needed for this one. Many other fundraising opportunities are available for individual band accounts.(see website for the list). There are 5 more episodes of the Video diary upcoming.

Membership Report: Michelle Gillis said that the volunteers that signed up are listed on Charms so be sure to check that list for contacting people to help with the various activities.

Pit Crew: Brian Millard said that the fish tanks were cleaned at the Bass Pro Shop and the money is to be used for an ATV. Rick Shively will contact Shawn Stevens about the collection cans.

New Business:

  1. Ushers are needed for the CSO concert preferably parents. Students are needed to distribute programs. East and West will handle refreshments.
  2. There are open slots on the website for Freshman VP, Communications and also a public relations person. Please consider these positions.
  3. Malinda Anderson said that 30 sets of band shoes were collected from graduates for Gail Kelly’s daughter’s band in NJ. They were happy to get them.

Meeting Adjourned: Motion- Malinda Anderson. Second by Linda Merrill
