Opening Day Parade for the Reds
In preparation for the Opening Day Parade for the Reds, I will be at the school on March 31, at 6:45am for those who would like to pick up their hats before school for the parade. I will be in the uniform room the whole morning for any last minute problems.
All uniforms, ALL BANDS, will be turned in for the year at the May 19th concert. The only thing that is NOT turned in is your bow tie and cumberbun and white tux shirt. PLEASE make sure that you wear something under your uniform that night. You will not be allowed to leave with any part of the uniform that night. Any Seniors wishing to donate black shoes may do so that night also. Please leave them in the uniform room in a plastic bag marked donation. I will deal with them later.
Fitting Days for 2008 Marching Band
This year fitting day for the 2008 marching band will be July 24 and July 25. Brass and Percussion on the 24th and woodwinds on the 25th. Times for each section will be posted closer to the fitting days. Anyone who is able to help on these days please cantact Malinda Anderson @ malindap1@netzero.net or uniforms@lakotawestbands.org. Times for volunteers will more thatn likely be 8:30am-1:30pm. If you can only stay for part of the time, let me know and we will work it out. I need about 15 people each day. Thanks in advance for your help.
Uniform commitee:
We are looking for a few good people to join our ranks. I have quite a few Senior Moms graduating and although we wish them well, we NEED help. We attend all home foootball games(free),Run fitting days, Attend all competitions, Uniform all bands( including concert bands)and help on concert nights. We also repair and hem unifors and clean parkas. There are a variety of ways that you can help. Just let me know your time committment and I will place you where we can use you. I am also looking to retire from the uniform committee in 2 years so will be looking to train someone for the job. If you are interested in this, PLEASE let me know and we can talk. If you know of any Freshman parents who would like to get involved and get to know their childrens friends, this is the perfect way. Send them to me. Thanks in advance for your help.

Committee
Rose Parade Uniform Information
Please
turn in your Parkas to the uniform room ASAP.
I need to clean them and then pack them. So the
sooner you can turn them in the better. PLEASE
DO NOT clean them yourself. Some of the Parkas
need to be dry cleaned because it has a different
material in the hood. I will sort them and clean
them. Please turn them in to the uniform room
NOW!
Mr.
Snyder would like all the band members to march
in their black shoes and their shako's at practices
on December 5 and 12. Therefore, the band members
should not turn in their shako's until after practice
on December 12. At this time we will have a big
shoe shining party. Everyone will shine their shoes
and turn them into Mrs. Anderson. At the smae time,
they will need to turn in their shako's with their
black t-shirt, black socks, and black gloves in
the box. Mrs Anderson spoke with the Sousa section
and explained how she will pack their things. So
they know what and when to bring their things.
Anyone that has turned in their shakos already,
thank you. You can either leave them in the uniform
room so they are there when you need them or you
can take them back home and turn them in on December12.
Any questions???? Please contact Malinda Anderson
at 856-8445 or uniforms@lakotawestbands.org.
Thank you,
Malinda Anderson

you may wear that.)

Students who are not in marching
band will be issued a pair of black marching
band pants. They should wear black closed-toe
dress shoes.
Also, for everyone except
the ladies in winds:
-
Everyone in marching band
will wear their marching band pants and marching
shoes.
-
Everyone will need to purchase
a white tuxedo shirt (not a regular white dress
shirt). Tuxedo shirts are available at Michaels
and Hobby Lobby and some men’s clothing
stores.
-
Everyone needs to wear plain
black socks – no shortie socks; the socks
must cover your ankles.
Marching Firebirds
We
want all Lakota West Marching Firebirds to look
their best. Some things to remember when wearing
your uniform:
-
No visible jewelry
-
No sleeveless shirts, tank
tops, beaters, etc. You must wear a t-shirt
with sleeves.
-
You must wear black socks
that cover your ankles – no shorties.
-
Hair that is longer than your
collar must be tucked into your hat.
-
If the weather is chilly or
wet, bring your parka.
-
Everyone is expected to hang
their uniform properly.
-
You need to bring your hat
(in the box), black marching band shoes, black
socks, and gloves to every event. If
you forget your socks or gloves, we will have
extras available that we can sell to you.
How to Keep the Uniform Committee
Happy!
-
Arrive in plenty of time
to get your uniform from the rack and get dressed.
-
Bring everything you need
for the game or competition i.e. hat, gloves,
black socks, shoes, parka (if needed) and instrument.
-
You must wear a T-shirt under
your uniform for games or competitions. PLEASE,
no spaghetti strap tank tops girls. If you
are found without a shirt, you will be fined
$5.00, which is the cost of dry cleaning your
jacket.
-
Remember where you hung your
uniform and/or placed your instrument on the
uniform bus. There are numbers but they don’t
correspond with our uniform number. Check the
bags for the correct numbers.
-
When we return
to school, immediately remove your properly
hung uniform to the rack in the band or uniform
room. This is YOUR responsibility. If you aren’t
returning on the bus you must arrange to have
a friend remove your uniform and hang it up.
-
REMEMBER - there will be fines
for not hanging your uniform properly or leaving
your uniform and/or accessories on the bus
or in the band room. There will also be a fee
for borrowing black socks or Dinkles. If you
forget your gloves, we will sell you a new
pair. This cost will come out of your additional
uniform fee.
We think that The Marching Firebirds
are the best looking band on the field or in competition.
It’s up to all of you to respect your uniforms
and accessories and keep them in good condition.
It’s the Uniform Committee’s job to
help you accomplish this.
