1. Fantastic job at the Winter Concert! Congratulations to the 7th Grade Jazz Band, 7th Grade Band, and 8th Grade Bands on musical performances! We are proud of the music you make!

3. Solo and Ensemble is Saturday, March 20 at Springboro Junior High School. At home, practice all of your parts as perfectly as you can, and we will help you with the rest in class!
4. The 7th Grade Jazz Band will perform at LakotaFest at West High School on Saturday, March 27. Performance time is set for 12:30 – 1:00 p.m.
5. 5. Auditions for the 2010 – 2011 Ridge 8th Grade Jazz Band will be held beginning Monday, March 1. All interested 7th Grade Band members are encouraged to try out!

Lakota Ridge Band Program
The Lakota Ridge band program
consists of 160 7th grade students divided into
three separate band classes. There are 125 8th
grade students in two band classes. Ridge also
has 37 students in 8th grade jazz band during the
first semester and 36 students in 7th grade jazz
band during the second semester. All bands
meet five days a week and are directed by Mrs.
Sherri Voytek and Mr. Brian Botdorf.
Mr. Brian Botdorf received
a bachelor of music degree from Bowling Green State
University and a master of education degree from
Ashland University. He started at Lakota Schools
(East) in the Fall of 2001 and has been at Ridge
since the Fall of 2003. He works with the Ridge
concert bands and jazz bands; assists with the
Lakota West Marching Firebirds; and directs the
all-Lakota trombone ensemble. Previous teaching
experience in Ohio includes Clearview Local Schools,
North Baltimore Local Schools, and Willard City
Schools. Mr. Botdorf teaches private trombone,
baritone and tuba lessons in the evenings. He is
also active in the West Chester Church of the Nazarene's
contemporary combo "Awaken". He lives
in West Chester with his wife, Susan.
Mrs. Sherri Voytek earned
a bachelor of music degree from Ohio University.
She is in her 5th year at Lakota Ridge, where
she enjoys teaching the 7th and 8th grade concert
bands and 7th grade general music. Mrs.
Voytek also assists with the Lakota West Marching
Firebirds. Previously, Mrs. Voytek served
as the high school band director at West Carrollton
High School. In addition, she has taught
at Buckeye Local Schools in Ashtabula, Ohio and
Fort Frye Local Schools in Beverly, Ohio. Throughout
her career, Mrs. Voytek has maintained an active
flute studio. Mrs. Voytek lives in Centerville
with her husband Michael, also a band director,
and their dogs, Riff and Tucker.
