If you have already volunteered for a position please consider taking an additional time-slot.

Sign-up sheets are posted in the band room for students. Adults should contact Shelley & Dan Oehrle (777-0369 or doehrle@cinci.rr.com)

Remember - Mark your calendars!  The Jazz 'n Cakes Pancake Breakfast will be Saturday, April 19, from 8:00am until noon at Lakota West High School.

Click here to learn about urgent volunteer needs for this event.

This event represents a major fund-raising opportunity for the band, and for individual band students.  We are counting on everyone's help to make it successful.

The event will include an all-you-can eat pancake and sausage breakfast, jazz music provided by Lakota West jazz bands, a basket raffle and basket silent auction, and shopping at the local vendors represented on "Main Street Market."  Tickets are $5 each, with no charge for children under age 3.

Get involved:  sell tickets, volunteer to serve at the event, create a basket to auction, and make great jazz!

Ticket Sales:  Each band member is expected to sell at least 5 tickets.  For each ticket sold beyond the initial 5 tickets, band members will earn $3 per ticket for their own band account -- a great opportunity to raise money for the Band Camp and other band fees!  (Example:  Sell 25 tickets and earn $60; sell 100 tickets and earn $285).  Envelopes with the initial 5 tickets ($25 value) were distributed to each band member at the Lakota West Concerts on March 10 and the Lakota Freshman Concert on March 11.  Return money and any unsold tickets (hopefully none) in the sealed envelope by April 16 to school or mail to:  Lakota West Upbeat Club, P.O. Box 1637, West Chester, OH  45071.  NOTE:  if money or tickets are not returned, the balance will be charged to student accounts.  Additional tickets will be available to sign-out at school and through Teresa Armstrong (755-1784; twaarmstrong@aol.com).

Basket Raffle:  We are in urgent need of a few adult volunteers to help solicit donations for the basket raffle and to prepare baskets for the raffle.  Please contact Holly Sefton (779-4143, hollyre@cinci.rr.com) as soon as possible. Different than the student basket silent auction, the proceeds from the basket raffle go into the general Upbeat Club fund. If you know of a business or you yourself would like to donate items for the basket raffle please fill out the "Band Basket Donation Form (click HERE)". For more information contact Holly Sefton at hollyre@cinci.rr.com or 779-4143.   Lastly, we will need adult volunteers on the day of the breakfast for setup, ticket sales, and cleanup.

Basket Silent Auction:  We will again offer students an opportunity to prepare and sell baskets via a silent auction.  All proceeds will go towards the student’s account.  Contact Holly Sefton with questions
(779-4143, hollyre@cinci.rr.com).

Main Street Market:  If you would like to purchase a vendor table on Main Street Market, or can suggest somebody who might be interested, contact Sue Guttag (SueGuttag@cinci.rr.com).

Student Volunteers:  Volunteers are needed to host, serve, and clean.  If you have not already done so, please sign-up on the sheets that will be posted in the band room.

Adult Volunteers:  Some adult volunteer positions still need to be filled for the day of the event.  Contact Dan or Shelley Oehrle (777-0369, doehrle@cinci.rr.com).

Auction Information

At last year's Jazz 'n Cakes breakfast we had a Student Basket Silent Auction. It was a great success with over $4000 going straight into students' band accounts. We hope to have that success again this year. This year the Jazz 'n Cakes breakfast is Saturday, April 19th.

Students may put together baskets (limit 5) to be silent auctioned that morning. 100% of the money made by your basket goes directly into your band account. Please fill out the Student Basket Silent Auction Form and return to Holly Sefton by April 1st.

You may choose any theme for your basket. Suggestion: purchase items on sale to make a basket then make the value of your basket what the full price would have been.

The silent bidding begins at 8:00 AM on April 19th, so your baskets must be dropped off at West on Main Street between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM that morning.

If you have any questions please contact Holly Sefton at hollyre@cinci.rr.com or 779-4143.
