Experience. Tom Racic joined Lakota staff in 2008 after 3 years at Mt. Healthy city schools. Mr. Racic was the band director at Mt. Healthy Jr. High and High school through great years of growth for the program. He also has experience teaching high school percussion sections at Sycamore, Turpin, Mt. Healthy, and Highlands during the last 8 years.
Mr. Racic was on the percussion staff of two world class drum and bugle corps. He taught the drum line at Capital Regiment in Columbus, Ohio in 2004 and 2005 and also the drum line at Magic of Orlando in Orlando, Florida in 2006.
Performances. Mr. Racic’s bands at Mt. Healthy were consistent and talented performers at Mid-States Band Association competitions and OMEA adjudicated events.Nearly all solo and ensemble participants received superior and excellent ratings. The high school bands also performed at many community events.
Mr. Racic marched in the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps in 1999 and 2000. He was also selected to be a member of the KMEA intercollegiate band.
Education. Mr. Racic graduated from Turpin High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in music education from Northern Kentucky University. He completed his student teaching at Sycamore High School. Mr. Racic will begin working on his Master’s Degree this summer.
Professional Activity. Mr. Racic is a Vic Firth sponsored educator and is also a member of OMEA and MENC. He is an alumnus of the Xi Lambda chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
